Gratitude is not only the greatest of all virtues . . . but it is the parent of all the others.
When we are grateful, our hearts open. That space – that openness – allows grace, love, and kindness to flow into us. At least, this is how I interpret the above axiom.
Gratitude can be a fleeting thing, experienced on a ‘sometime’ basis. Someone stops and lets you into the traffic flow and you give the wave. They smile, you smile; they feel good, you feel good. Briefly.
Or it can be a practice. The practice of gratitude is a never-ending process of giving and receiving. When we offer our gratitude for anything, it opens up our capacity to receive more. In other words, we are open vessels for that giving and getting back.
The more we practice, the more aware we become of the abundance in our lives, and so the more grateful we become, and so on and so forth until our gratitude cells are filled to overflowing.
Take nothing for granted. Get over entitlement. Do not limit the giving of thanks to one weekend a year, dear friends. Make it your primary emotion. Wear it on your sleeve.
An attitude of gratitude for our blessed lives, the splendor surrounding us on this beloved planet, the love in our hearts, the beauty of action, each new day – all of this is the open door to bliss.
Appreciate each conscious moment of your life, everything you accomplish, and who you are. When gratitude fills your heart, you radiate it and uplift the vibrations of all around you.
This weekend and going forward, may your gratitude cells be filled to overflowing and may your ‘cup runneth over with love’.
I am forever grateful for your presence in my life.
