     Mantra for November

I had one of those aha moments this month regarding what I will call my seasonal dysfunction. For me, the fall has always been a bittersweet period – more bitter than sweet, as the dazzle of October fades to the bleak of November. And I know I am not alone in this mindset.

A couple of years ago I decided that enough was enough. November is about celebrating peace; it was time to make peace with November.

What occurred to me recently is that a few of my favourite things, gratitude and peace among them, are honoured in October and November respectively. Embrace it all, my higher self whispered, the light and the shadow. Find the good, even in November.

It really is just a mindset, and we can change our mind.   If that doesn’t work, we can change our location . . . to a place that offers climate rather than weather. Bottom line – no more griping about the season, the weather, the month or anything else that is inevitable.

Mantra for November: I accept and appreciate every precious day, allowing goodness, abundance and peace to flow into my life.

About peace – it can begin to feel that it is a heaven that we will never, as a planet, grasp. But when we look back at our world, even 100 years back, our collective consciousness has risen so greatly in that span that we are almost another species. Think tanks across the globe talk about Oneness. 60,000 souls from the four corners of the planet (I among them) celebrated Global Oneness Day last Saturday with an all day web cast. Back in 1982 the UN initiated an annual International Day of Peace. We have a long way to go, but when we look at the distance we have come, it doesn’t seem so impossible.

And if perchance we dare to insist that there is nothing that one person can do about it, stop right there! That is erroneous thinking. Peace begins with you, and me, and your brother, and my sister and so on. Just like any concept, it’s an inside job. It begins within the heart, when we count to ten before erupting in anger at our kids, our spouse, or an employee. When we apologize for causing hurt. When we reach out to connect with someone after a falling out. When we forgive. When we take a few minutes at the beginning or end (or both) of the day to sit and breath in silence and feel gratitude.

It all goes into the great collective subconscious energy of the planet and it all counts. Every one of us is responsible for world peace. Send blessings to anyone and everyone, to the Earth, to all her species. When this becomes your practice, you will find that your own life becomes filled with peace, and you have become one of the blessed peacemakers – “the children of God”.

When each of us holds in our heart a deep reverence for not just human life but ALL life – animals, forests, oceans, sea life, the air we breathe, the earth beneath our feet – that will be peace on Earth. And this, dear friends, is the truth of who we really are.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I'll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase "each other" doesn't make any sense
