We need women to save us.

                                                                                     -- Archbishop Desmond Tutu

He said this some time ago. 2005 to be exact. It was, perhaps, slightly more eyebrow-raising to hear this from a male voice 12 years ago; but today, at least in the circles in which I travel, it’s commonly accepted. And if a clarion call were needed to send this fact home, it came in January. The Women’s Marches knocked it right out of the ballpark.

I capitalized those words (and I’m very miserly with my ‘capitals’) because that phenomenon, for want of a better word, has become a global movement. It happened organically and almost instantaneously. In case there were those who still did not recognize the Trump presidency as a lightning rod for change . . . ta dum! There it was. There it went. Marching and singing and dancing and shouting to the heavens, that the women have gathered, and the world was about to change.

Women have gathered in circles since the beginning of time. We understand the invisible power of the conscious circle as the polar opposite of hierarchy. Its time has come to replace that patriarchal hierarchy, because this time, the men, at least the conscious ones, are on board. Archbishop Tutu may have been a little ahead of his time, but today he has a following. And what I loved most about those Women’s Marches was that the men were in there marching too.

The divine feminine and the divine masculine are blossoming on Earth in our lifetime. If that’s not something to celebrate on International Women’s Day this week, then we’re not as awake as I think we are.

In her book, Urgent Message from Mother, Jean Bolen suggests how a classified ad might look in the ‘Help Wanted’ section, if Mother Earth, the deep feminine, placed it. The attributes would apply to most women and some men:

HELP WANTED: Everywoman. Home keepers for the Earth. Must keep premises safe for all. Have concern for children’s needs and development, ability to manage resources, resolve conflicts, work collaboratively, ask questions, listen, and learn from the experience of others, be empathic, and act with compassion for the benefit of all, including generations to come.

The fact is, we need to show-up, dear sisters, and we need the backing, love and strength of the guys in our life to be the wind beneath our wings, be they partners, sons, brothers, fathers, lovers, or simply good friends. How do we do this, you ask?

Let me count the ways: First, to be a force for goodness in the world we must love our Earth Mother enough to care, and come from a place of peace and compassion with any work we do. Then tune in and dive in to women’s circles, either virtually or in our own physical community.

I was at a yoga retreat last weekend with simpatico sisters and one equally tuned in 'brother' who hosted us.  It was grounding and inspiring.  I think I can say for everyone that we left the retreat more peaceful, joyous and open than we were before, and truly ready to make changes.  Conscious circles work!

And I have just joined two online circles: www.treesisters.org and The Heartbeat of Mother Earth webinars from Sacred Planet. The latter is inviting us to a free webinar this Thursday, March 9th at 4pm Eastern time “for a lively and uncensored discussion led by brilliant feminine leaders”. Visit www.wearesacredplanet.com to find out more, to sign up and to get fired up.  (These podcasts are usually recorded for tuning in later.)

As women we have the innate and essential power to change the world. We are healers, mothers, wise women, teachers, leaders, artists, and activists. We hold the keys to birthing a new, sustainable, peaceful, life-affirming future.

That is your clarion call and your invitation to tune in this Thursday to gain clarity on the part you’re meant to play in all this. “One thing is certain: the Sacred Feminine is being called into action and women are needed NOW!”

If there is to be Peace on Earth, it will be because Mother returned home through her daughters.
